THE WORD GOD
The Word of God stands by itself!
Jesus chose to lay down His Life so God’s Love could be poured forth from Him to us.
* “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His Life for the sheep…No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative.”. John 10:11, 18
We all long to hear……”Well done good and faithful servant!”
Deuteronomy 4:2 clearly states “2 Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you.”
*Our God is so perfect, that nothing needs to be added or subtracted from what HE decrees!
We go astray, when we as humans try to add or subtract! What God says is absolute!
*Obedience isn’t a setup to put you in chains, it’s a channel that leads to God’s freedom! It’s the key that opens the door to the Promise, to God’s best for you!
Revelation 22:18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.
*We need to speak when the Bible speaks, and be silent when the Bible is silent.
The commandments of God and the traditions of men are not the same thing and must always be clearly distinguished.
Any attempt to place them on the same level will always result in making the Word of God of none effect.
God’s Word is true (Rom. 3:3-4) and will not return to Him void (Isa. 55:11).
The Word will not profit anyone who doesn’t believe it, but God’s Word itself doesn’t lose any power.
1 Corinthians 4:6 ….”Do not go beyond what is written.” Then you will not be puffed up in being a follower of one of us over against the other.
*Many times our pride wants to take us beyond what a person wrote or said. We think, “Well this is what they really meant when they said this.” And that thought never passed their minds. Don’t worry about what other people think of you. Only worry about what God thinks of you.
Lord, as I draw closer to you, draw closer to me so that as I grow I will become more and more like you and less and less like me. I love you, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
